Cervantes wraps up a great “Orange” weekend with E3 championship title
Ivan Cervantes of the KTM Enduro Factory Racing team wrapped up the E3 season in St. Flour, France this weekend with two podiums and a world championship title to conclude a tough but satisfying series of races.
Cervantes already gave KTM reason to celebrate on Saturday when he moved into an unbeatable position after race one and secured the title.

“I knew Nambotin and Guillaume would be very hard to beat here, so I didn’t want to take too many risks and just rode my own race,” he said after Saturday’s race, which lived up to traditional French races as both difficult and challenging. “Here a result in the top four was enough to win the title. I am very happy with this new world crown. We had a hard battle this season.”

Overall Cervantes had a brilliant orange racing season, topping the podium in 10 rounds and taking another five minor podium places.

We did well to get this world championship title but it was a lot of coordinated work with the team. Now we already start on the preparations for the 2010 season,” said team boss Fabio Farioli.

Regrettably for Cervantes’ factory teammate Samuli Aro the season ended rather with a fizz than a bang. Sidelined with a broken finger sustained in Serres, Greece, Aro was unable to ride in the final two rounds but he still amassed enough points to hold onto his fourth position in the season’s standings. Aro was on the podium seven times during the season with four second places and three thirds and the French round was his last appearance with the factory team.

KTM also secured the Manufacturer's World Championship title in the E3 class.
