COLE THOMPSON SWEEPS ALL FOUR ROUNDS OF THE TRIPLE CROWN SX TOUR TO BECOME THE 2021 SX TOUR CHAMPION AND 2021 TRIPLE CROWN CHAMPION

COURTLAND, ON – KTM Canada Red Bull THOR Race Team’s Cole Thompson swept the final two rounds of the SX Tour over the weekend, delivering another flawless 1-1 victory to claim back-to-back 450 Pro SX Tour Championships. With his strong finish to the season, Thompson also secured enough points to clinch the 2021 Triple Crown Series Overall title with consistent performances all year.

Returning back to Gopher Dunes for another double-header weekend, Thompson picked up right where he left off at the opening rounds with a top performance from start to finish. Leading every lap of the weekend, Thompson made a big statement as he raced his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION to the center of the podium with dominant performances in all four motos.

Cole Thompson, KTM Canada Red Bull THOR Race Team 450 Rider: “I am beyond happy to be able to win my 3rd SX Championship & 2nd Triple Crown Championship! Ending my season on a perfect 8 for 8 moto wins. A massive thank you goes out to my entire team for all their efforts and giving me these opportunities to perform at my best. So proud of everyone involved and grateful to be part of this team. Cheers to the 2021 season!”

Jean-Sebastien Roy, KTM Canada Red Bull THOR Race Team Manager“I’m really happy for Cole to finish the season strong with this domination in SX. He rode flawless and really showed his SX skills by winning every moto of the short series. It’s definitely a great way to finish the series!”

KTM Supported Riders – Recently crowned 250 Pro MX Tour Champion, Jacob Piccolo, came close to securing a second title in the SX Tour, finishing only six points behind in second overall. Piccolo had a strong finish to the series, claiming two moto-wins on the weekend, but a tough 10th place moto-finish on day one kept him from sweeping the year in the 250 Pro division.

KTM Canada would like to extend a big congratulations to Cole Thompson, Jess Pettis and the entire KTM Canada Red Bull THOR Race Team, as well as KTM’s supported riders and crews for an incredible season in 2021. With Canadian Pro National racing ending for the year, our teams will go to work with off-season preparations in order to be READY TO RACE at the drop of the gate in 2022.
