GTC Race, one of Germany’s most popular amateur racing series, is back on the weekend of 28 to 30 April. And with it KTM customer teams CCS Racing and razoon – more than racing, for whom the championship has become an important platform.
The teams will be competing at a host of historic circuits such as the Nürburgring or the Hockenheimring. As in 2022, a variety of models will once again be on track for the 2023 season: the KTM X-BOW GTX and the KTM X-BOW GT4.
One of those competing in 2023 is Uwe Schmidt, who celebrated a number of successes in the GTX version in 2022. “If we can build on that performance, that would be fantastic of course,” he says. “But we know that the field is even stronger now. We want to mix it up with the GT3 cars and perform as well as we can in our category.” Schmidt will be sharing driving duties with Holger Baumgartner and Christian Schäfer.
Denis Liebl will be driving another KTM X-BOW GTX as part of the razoon – more than racing squad. Dominik Olbert’s team is expanding its GTC Race programme and is entering two KTM. Junior drivers Rick Bouthoorn and Daniel Drexel, who put in a number of impressive performances in the GT4 class in 2022, will once again be part of the team in 2023.
The 2023 GTC Race calendar takes in a total of five race weekends across Germany, including two at the Nürburgring. Other stops are Hockenheim, Oschersleben and the Lausitzring. GTC Race forms part of the ADAC Racing Weekend platform for amateur motorsport.
