DOUBLE TRIUMPH AT GT2 HOME RACE

There couldn’t have been a better backdrop for the first win of the season for True Racing by Reiter Engineering than the Red Bull Ring in Styria. At KTM’s home track, the team was able to record victories in both classes at the Fanatec GT2 European Series with the KTM X-BOW GT2.

Stefan Rosina and Nicolas Saelens were among the successful drivers of the weekend. The pair missed out on a win by the barest of margins in race one, but managed to take a convincing win in race two after an outstanding performance. Rosina set his stall out early with an excellent overtake in the opening stages, giving the team a lead that it would not relinquish over the remainder of the race.

For reigning champion Saelens, it was the first victory in KTM colours. “That was a great feeling,” he said after the race. “The crew gave us a perfect car for the whole weekend. Everyone was fully committed here at the Red Bull Ring, and that was enough for the race victory.”

Rosina and Saelens weren’t the only drivers celebrating in the Pro-Am classification. Thanks to an outstanding overtake on the final lap, Reinhard Kofler made up two places to grab the final spot on the podium for him and teammate Hubert Trunkenpolz. “Our podium finish is a fitting end to the weekend,” said Trunkenpolz. “Every one of our crews finished on the podium at least once. At our home race, that was the best we could have hoped for.”

The successful Red Bull Ring weekend was rounded off by two further victories for the KTM X-BOW GT2 in the Am class. Klaus Angerhofer and Sehdi Sarmini took the class win on Saturday morning. Jan Krabec then finished first in the Am classification on Saturday afternoon, allowing him to reinforce his championship lead.

The next stop on the Fanatec GT2 European Series calendar is Dijon, France, from 16 to 17 June.
