    STEPPING INTO THE BIG LEAGUES 

    For the 2025 model year, KTM has taken a groundbreaking approach to its 85cc-class competitor. Introducing innovative technical solutions, performance-oriented results, and racetrack-driven R&D, the 2025 KTM 85 SX is poised to maintain its title-winning legacy.  The 2025 KTM 85 SX is a scaled-down version of KTM's full-size SX motocross machines, designed using real-world race experience and scientific data. With 75% of the bike updated , every aspect is tailored to give young champions the edge they need to succeed, marking our most radical step yet. 

    FRAME

    Inspired by the full-sized KTM SX range, the 2025 KTM 85 SX features an all-new high-strength chromium molybdenum steel frame. Engineered for precise handling, easy cornering, and outstanding stability at all speeds, the frame integrates carefully calculated parameters of longitudinal flex and torsional rigidity.  

    The rear shock mount is separated from the main upper frame tube, enhancing absorption during hard impacts. This design transfers less energy through the rear shock into the frame, ensuring a stable and planted feel even in the most demanding conditions. The frame also includes standard frame protectors with an innovative mini-specific texture for added grip in the leg area.  Adjustments to the steering head angle (now at 63.5°, half a degree flatter) and its position (moved 6 mm backward) improve corner handling and high-speed stability. The steering angle is also wider at 35°, making maneuvering easier than before. 

    SWINGARM

    The one-piece aluminum swingarm, manufactured using a gravity die-cast process, offers exceptional strength at the lowest possible weight. The optimized topology ensures optimal rigidity, while an improved casting process reduces the weight by 300-g (down to 2.8 kg from the previous 3.1 kg). The new swingarm angle, 2.3° flatter than before, enhances rider mobility and reduces interference with the seat and rear body shape. 

    FOOTPEGS 

    All-new “no-dirt” footrests, inspired by the full-size motocross range, provide increased surface area for better boot grip and are less susceptible to hooking in deep ruts. This design improves control in all conditions while saving weight with the frame-integrated mounting concept

    BRAKES

    The 2025 KTM 85 SX features best-in-class braking power with floating brake calipers from Formula, a 240 mm Galfer wave disc up front, and a 220 mm Galfer wave disc at the rear, ensuring exceptional stopping power, brake feel, and consistent pad wear in any condition. 

    WHEELS AND TIRES 

    Equipped with black Excel branded rims and silver CNC machined hubs, the 2025 KTM 85 SX features MAXXIS MAXXCROSS MX-ST tires for outstanding performance across various terrains. Riders can choose between two rim size options: 19/16 and 17/14, providing the ideal platform for the best seat height.

    FULLY-ADJUSTABLE WP XACT REAR SHOCK 

    The 2025 KTM 85 SX includes an all-new WP XACT monoshock rear suspension with a newly designed mounting point. Linked to the swingarm using KTM’s proven PDS technology, the new monoshock is perfectly matched to the front forks for balanced damping characteristics, offering improved traction, controllability, and handling despite a reduced rear suspension travel of 289 mm from the previous 305 mm. 

    WP XACT FRONT FORK WITH AER TECHNOLOGY 

    Featuring state-of-the-art suspension technology, the 2025 KTM 85 SX is fitted with a WP XACT AER fork. The 43 mm USD fork provides exceptional damping and comfort, allowing riders to push their limits with confidence. With 278 mm of wheel travel, the air unit in the left fork leg can be easily adjusted using an air pump for rider preference, weight, or track conditions.  Additionally, a WP XACT PRO COMPONENTS cartridge kit is available via the KTM PowerParts catalog. 

    BODYWORK AND CTG 

    ERGONOMICS

    Featuring state-of-the-art suspension technology, the 2025 KTM 85 SX is fitted with a WP XACT AER fork. The 43 mm USD fork provides exceptional damping and comfort, allowing riders to push their limits with confidence. With 278 mm of wheel travel, the air unit in the left fork leg can be easily adjusted using an air pump for rider preference, weight, or track conditions.  Additionally, a WP XACT PRO COMPONENTS cartridge kit is available via the KTM PowerParts catalog. 

    FUEL TANK 

    The 5.4-liter fuel tank is designed to integrate seamlessly with the new frame and bodywork, featuring the same tank cap as the full-size SX models. 

     

    GRAPHICS 

    Striking KTM orange graphics, applied using an in-mold process, ensure durability and quality, complemented by KTM-specific seat textures and grip patches. 

    AIRBOX 

    The airbox, designed for maximum airflow and filter protection, features a Twin Air filter and a simple fail-proof mounting system. The new airbox concept includes a conventional suction sleeve for better airflow and improved engine management. 

    ENGINE 

    The 2025 KTM 85 SX features the latest in 2-stroke technology, establishing itself at the top of the 85cc class. An updated engine construction, lighter by 120 g, incorporates a controlled exhaust valve, 6-speed transmission, and hydraulic clutch for top-level performance. 

    EXHAUST SYSTEM 

    The new exhaust system, with a seamless manufacturing process, optimizes exhaust flow for improved thermodynamics and performance, particularly in the bottom and mid-rpm range. An updated black anodized silencer completes the package. 

    IGNITION 

    A new digital ignition with a CDI box from Hidria offers more processing power and an updated ignition curve. 

    CYLINDER HEAD AND SPARK PLUG 

    A new cylinder head improves power delivery at low and medium rpm, with a redesigned combustion chamber for a new BRISK M10 spark plug, providing cleaner combustion, more power, and torque. 

    RADIATORS 

    The liquid cooling system, inspired by the full-size KTM SX range, cools the cylinder and crankcases with radiators produced by Pankl. 

    SHIFTING MECHANISM 

    The gearbox retains its previous technical structure but features an updated shift drum for improved reliability and shifting performance, with a new coating for smoother shifting. A forged shift lever with a folding tip enhances functionality.
