With all the data collected from the various sensors, the system detects and controls power wheelies and ensures stability as well as smooth wheel landing and acceleration.

Brakes

Slowing the apex hunting KTM 890 SMT down comes courtesy of twin 320 mm brake disks and JJuan 4-piston radially mounted calipers. These are used in conjunction with a J.JUAN axial master cylinder, making for impressive braking control and stopping power. At the rear, a 260 mm brake disk is actuated by a double-piston floating caliper, also supplied by J.JUAN.

Reworked Suspension

The 2023 KTM 890 SMT allows you to set up your ride to your own preferences. Fitted with rebound and compression damping adjusters on the top cap of the fork legs, this makes for quick and easy adjustment for different types of riding usage. Want to attack the mountain pass, then simply dial in the clickers, or if you out for a brisk but steady ride then soften up the setup. On the rear, the shock features a rebound damping adjuster and a hand adjuster for spring preload. The rebound damping adjustability allows the rider to adapt the shock behavior to different riding situations, while the spring preload adjuster can be tailored for luggage, passenger loads or for those full mountain attacks.

Strength was a big consideration in the design, so a tubular Chromoly steel frame is used with the engine acting as a stressed member to reduce weight and overall size. Additionally, the compact frame allows for a long swingarm which improves traction without compromise handling.
