KTM has reached a new milestone in GT racing, with a total of five teams fielding seven KTM X-BOW GT2 in this season’s Fanatec GT2 European Series. Never before have so many customer teams utilised the model, which made its competitive debut in 2021.
“KTM was one of the first manufacturers to commit to the GT2 class,” says Management Board member Hubert Trunkenpolz. “For us, this was an investment in the future and to establish the X-BOW on a platform with enormous potential. This year’s line-up is a testament to the fact that our decision was the right one. A third of the field in the most important GT2 series in the world will be racing the KTM X-BOW GT2.”
One reason for the car’s success is its track record in GT2 motorsport. Highlights including Jan Krabec’s title victory in 2023 raised the profile of the KTM X-BOW GT2. Krabec will be racing in the Am class with customer team RTR Projects in 2024, alongside his closest rivals for the title last year Klaus Angerhofer and Sehdi Sarmini at True Racing by Reiter Engineering. razoon – more than racing from Graz and the Danish racing team Racinglab will also be competing in the series for the first time.
The Fanatec GT2 European Series comprises six race weekends across five different European countries in 2024. Among the favourites for top placings in the Pro-Am category include MZR, who took a sensational race win at a guest appearance in 2023. The team will have a promising driver duo piloting their X-BOW GT2 in the shape of Reinhard Kofler and Martin Koch.
The five KTM teams will get their first taste of competitive on-track action at the season-opener on Saturday 6 April at Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France.
