The KTM X-BOW GT-XR1 features a whole host of components that have been developed on the racetrack. Whether on the road or on the circuit at a track day, the super sportscar delivers that special motorsport feeling every time.
The suspension plays a vital role in how a car feels to drive. The KTM X-BOW GT-XR is fitted with a push-rod system featuring SACHS struts positioned on the front axle on the top of the carbon monocoque. When it came to the set-up, the KTM engineers struck a balance between optimum handling on the road and on the racetrack. And that is not without reason: Much of the development work was done on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, among other places, and thousands of kilometres on public roads. The result is perfect tuning with optimized height, preload and damping as standard in the KTM X-BOW GT-XR. The aerodynamic double-wishbone suspension at the front and the rear is designed with slim profiles to enable the best possible air intake to the water and intercooler as well as the rear end.
1 Fuel consumption combined (WLTP): 9.1 l/100 km, CO₂ emissions combined (WLTP): 214 g/km, emissions classification: EURO 6D
The wheel mounts are milled from a solid piece of aluminium and feature a sophisticated quick-adjust system, allowing the camber to be optimized at the circuit without affecting the tracking. The stabilizer at the front axle has three levels of adjustment for fine-tuning.
Besides the suspension, electronic systems such as ABS and ESP and the brakes are vital in delivering top-class performance. The KTM X-BOW GT-XR comes with a lightweight, monoblock fixed calliper brake system from Brembo with eight callipers per piston on the front axle and four per piston at the rear. Interior ventilation and perforations on the GT-brake discs make for excellent cooling, which not only increases the braking torque but also reduces the fading effect to a minimum. The extraordinarily high braking power, combined with the low vehicle weight, results in outstanding deceleration values with low wear.
The focus of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and the electronic stability program (ESP) is on absolute performance while maximizing safety. Both assistance systems are perfectly in tune with the characteristics of the car and its performance on the racetrack. ESP offers two modes: In Sport mode, it provides gentle regulation and ensures maximum safety on the road. In Performance mode, it ensures optimum power delivery on the racetrack with less intervention in the event of wheel slip.
Rims and tyres are where the KTM X-BOW GT-XR’s outstanding suspension and brakes are transferred to the asphalt. Italian manufacturer OZ Racing developed forged aluminium wheels especially for the car, which combine top-of-the-line performance with eye-catching design. The Y-5-spoke rim pairs low weight of just 9.5 kg and a 19” rim size with maximum mechanical resistance and strength. Five-lug wheels come as standard, but KTM X-BOW GT2 derived models with a centre-locking mechanism from Pankl are also available.
The tyres are what connect the car to the road, so quality is essential for excellent performance, optimal control and a good feeling behind the wheel. With high-performance winter and summer tyres from Michelin and a semi-slick option from Pirelli, the KTM X-BOW GT-XR covers all the bases in terms of tyre choice.
The new KTM X-BOW GT-XR is available immediately from EUR 299,150 (excl. local taxes and import duties). Thanks to the European small-volume production authorisation, the vehicle is available and road-legal across the continent.
