The new front radar system, a compact 5th-generation sensor with performance enhancements, offers a range of benefits. These include improved truck detection, higher maximum speed capabilities (e.g., up to 160 km/h or more), and updated cancellation thresholds. This advanced system significantly improves safety and riding comfort, providing a smoother and more controlled riding experience.
Key Features of the New Radar System:
The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is a result of a close collaboration with Bosch, a testament to our commitment to enhancing the user experience. This partnership has led to the development of a system that minimizes the need for manual adjustments, adding a group riding mode and new functions like Distance Assist, automatic start and stop with AMT, overtake surpression, brake assistant, collision warning, and distance warning.
Radar-Based Rider Assistance Systems Overview:
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is a user-friendly, radar-based extension of standard cruise control. It automatically adjusts the motorcycle's speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, making it particularly beneficial for long highway rides and reducing rider fatigue. The cruise control speed is easily adjustable via new paddle buttons on the left-hand switch, ensuring a seamless and comfortable riding experience.
ACC Modes:
Five Distance Settings:
Subfunctions:
ACC can be cancelled or overridden at any time by:
ACC Stop & Go
ACC Stop & Go is available on motorcycles with AMT. It automatically decelerates to a standstill when the vehicle ahead stops and restarts within 3 seconds. For stops longer than 3 seconds, the rider must manually accelerate or press the resume button.
Distance Assist (DA)
RDA helps maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front while allowing the rider to control the speed. Unlike ACC, RDA only has two distance settings (Short and Long) and can be overridden by twisting the throttle or overclosing the accelerator grip.
Overtake Suppression
The Overtake Suppression prevents overtaking on forbidden lanes when ACC is active, slowing or preventing acceleration to avoid passing vehicles on the restricted side. It can be temporarily turned off for 3 seconds by pressing the resume button or manually overriding with the throttle.
Brake Assist
The Brake Assist supports emergency braking by providing additional brake pressure if the rider's input is insufficient to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. It activates in response to a time-to-collision calculation made by the front radar sensor.
Collision Warning
This feature alerts the rider to potential collisions by applying a short double brake pulse and displaying a red "Brake!" warning on the dashboard. The system is designed to remain passive during everyday riding and only activate in critical situations.
Distance Warning
Distance Warning is a passive function that alerts the rider when the distance to the vehicle ahead falls below a safe threshold. It can be turned on or off independently of ACC and is designed to be non-intrusive, even during dynamic riding.
