The KTM X-BOW GT2’s winning streak continues, with both True Racing by Reiter Engineering and RTR Projects standing on the top step of the podium at the Fanatec GT2 European Series round in Dijon, France. Reinhard Kofler and Martin Koch were particularly happy with the weekend’s performance. Koch put together a fantastic recovery drive to top the Pro-Am class on his series debut.
“That was an unbelievable first weekend for me in this championship,” Koch said. The Swiss driver has demonstrated his considerable driving talent behind the wheel of multiple KTM models. This latest race in a KTM X-BOW GT2 in the Europe-wide championship is a brand-new highlight for the 49-year-old.
Koch secured the win in Pro-Am in the first of two races at Circuit de Dijon-Prenois with teammate Reinhard Kofler – despite a collision and spin in the opening stages. “We would never have dreamt of the race going like it did. We definitely performed to the maximum. I am very confident that I will be able to build on this with Hubert Trunkenpolz in the coming races,” said Kofler. The pair rounded off their successful weekend with second position in race two.
Despite some difficulties at the beginning of the race, Jan Krabec was still able to take yet another win in class. “We had some problems initially with the set-up,” the 40-year-old from the KTM customer team RTR Projects said. “After qualifying, we decided to change a few things on the car. In race one, things went considerably better and by race two we were finally where we wanted to be.”
The reward for all the hard work was a win in the Am category and a big haul of points, meaning Krabec continues to defend his lead at the head of the championship table. Klaus Angerhofer and Sehdi Sarmini also picked up some important points. After a fourth place in the first race, the driver duo in the #16 KTM X-BOW GT2 came home in third in race two, matching their podium finish from the previous round at the Red Bull Ring.
For Nicolas Saelens and Stefan Rosina, Dijon was all about securing as many points as possible. The two drivers from True Racing by Reiter Engineering travelled to France as the Pro-Am championship leaders. A third and a fifth ensured that the pair remain in the running for the class title.
