KTM X-BOW GT2 FINISHES WELL AT NÜRBURGRING 24H AFTER FAULTLESS PERFORMANCE

Another chapter has been added to KTM’s storied history at the Nürburgring Nordschleife after a courageous performance by Dörr Motorsport. The customer team entered a KTM X-BOW GT2 in the famous 24-hour race for the first time, finishing in 31st position overall and securing the win in the SP11 class. Even more impressive than the result was the excellent showing by the whole team, with Dörr Motorsport taking on a challenging weekend with aplomb with the support of KTM X-BOW.

“We had a brilliant car this weekend and no issues whatsoever,” said Rainer Dörr, owner and founder of the Dörr Group. “We have some important takeaways from the weekend that we can incorporate into our KTM dealership business. It was a big shame to see the race have to be red-flagged on Saturday evening due to the fog. The fans deserved much more on-track action, and we had the potential to finish even higher in the overall classification.”

Up to the suspension of the race after around seven hours, Fabian Vettel, Christian Gebhardt, Max Hofer and Ben Dörr had performed outstandingly, posting consistently quick lap times. Despite the changeable conditions, the foursome remained within the top 30 just behind the faster GT3 machinery. Thanks to their strong pace, Dörr Motorsport were even looking to challenge the top 20. As night drew in, visibility worsened and the race director was forced to suspend the race.

With conditions so treacherous at the most challenging circuit in the world, it was vital that no-one in the Dörr Motorsport crew put a foot wrong. “Dörr Motorsport and the KTM squad was well and truly on point this weekend,” said KTM X-BOW customer racing boss Laura Kraihamer. “It was clear to see that everything was running smoothly behind the scenes, which gave the drivers the best possible platform to focus on the race.”

Dörr Motorsport will now be stepping up their partnership with KTM X-BOW this year, with further races with the KTM X-BOW GT2 in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) planned for 2024.
