KTM customer team MZR made it four podiums in four races with some strong performances at the Fanatec GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli. The highlight of round two of the season in Misano was Reinhard Kofler and Martin Koch’s victory in Sunday’s race two. Further podiums from razoon – more than racing and True Racing by Reiter Engineering rounded off a successful weekend.
“The racing was hard but fair, and I’m sure we put on a good show for the fans,” said Reinhard Kofler. The 39-year-old and his teammate Martin Koch combined perseverance with some brave overtaking manoeuvres to secure their first win of the season. “This victory means a great deal to me,” Koch added. “Quite simply, the team made sure that everything was on point this weekend.”
razoon – more than racing were another customer team who showed that the KTM X-BOW GT2 is an excellent platform in GT2 motorsport. Even though the team are one of the newcomers in the championship, Thomas Andersen and Simon Birch secured another podium finish with third in the Pro-Am class. KTM very nearly had another win to their name in the Am category, with Dominik Olbert edged out into second position by just 77 thousandths of a second.
Despite missing out on the win, Olbert and his teammate Denis Liebl still got to taste the podium champagne, as did teammates Klaus Angerhofer and Sehdi Sarmini. After a challenging start to the season for True Racing by Reiter Engineering in Le Castellet, the experienced pairing bagged their first top-three placing this season. Hubert Trunkenpolz and Laura Kraihamer (#17) picked up some valuable points in both races. RTR Projects suffered a number of setbacks over the weekend and left Misano empty-handed.
The next round of the GT2 European Series is set to take place on the weekend of 27 to 29 June at Spa-Francorchamps – where KTM celebrated the first ever overall victory for its KTM X-BOW GT2 back in 2021.
