KTM X-BOW GT4 FINALLY AT SPEED IN DTM TROPHY: FACTORY DRIVER REINHARD KOFLER TAKES 2nd PLACE!

  • After intensive cooperation between all parties, the KTM X-BOW GT4 is now up to speed
  • Bad luck prevents a top position in the first DTM Trophy race on Saturday
  • KTM works rider Reinhard Kofler with an impressive second place on Sunday

At the DTM Trophy race weekend at the Lausitzring, the KTM X-BOW GT4 was mostly not able to follow its competitors. Thus, an intensive test at the Hockenheimring was organized, at which representatives of ITR were also present to get to the bottom of the problems. Thanks to the good cooperation between Teichmann Racing, Reiter, KTM and ITR, the knot finally burst during the race weekend at the Nürburgring.

The positive expectations were finally confirmed in the free practice sessions: KTM works driver Reinhard Kofler classified himself in first and second place in the sessions - the expectations for qualifying and the race on Saturday were correspondingly high. There, however, things did not go according to plan again, Kofler seemed to have no chance of a top position: eleventh place in qualifying, ninth place in the race - which resulted in eleventh place after a penalty due to an contact with another driver. Team boss Georg Teichmann, who coordinated the Nürburgring race on home soil for the team from Adenau: “Together with the engineers from Reiter Engineering we discovered that Reini's car was apparently developing an engine failure. That was the reason why he didn't have a chance to fight at the top.” The team swapped the engine overnight - and hoped for a better performance on Sunday.

These hopes should not be disappointed. Second place in qualifying was followed by a strong race by Kofler, who was able to celebrate second place behind season dominator Tim Heinemann. “I doubted a bit yesterday,” said an overjoyed Kofler who, despite the mediocre first race, left the Nürburgring satisfied: “A big thank you to Teichmann Racing and Reiter-Engineering for their tireless efforts, the boys almost didn't sleep, they had an intense nightshift, thank God the effort was worth it. Of course, a thank you also goes to ITR, who worked with us to find a solution. The DTM Trophy is an extremely strong championship. It was great fun and I would like to come back!” Georg Teichmann was also satisfied: “We were able to show that the KTM X-BOW GT4 is on par with the other brands in the DTM Trophy, especially here at our home track this was really important. Congratulations to Reini, he implemented everything perfectly. Now we hope that, with a little luck, our regular drivers will also be among the strong midfield runners in the DTM Trophy, we are looking forward to the rest of the season's races!"
